Ar. Bradford Perkins, FAIA, MRAIC, AICP Bio

Bradford Perkins is the founder and Chairman of Perkins Eastman Architects. Perkins Eastman is a 1150 person architectural, interior design, planning and consulting firm based in New York City with 23 other offices across North America and around the world. The firm has completed more than 2,000 buildings across North America and in over 50 other countries. The firm’s work has been widely published and has received over 850 awards for planning and design excellence.

Prior to forming Perkins Eastman in 1981, he was the Managing Partner of the East Coast offices of Perkins & Will and Managing Partner of London-based Llewelyn-Davies International’s Toronto, New York, Houston, and Caracas offices. During his career he has led or co-led projects in the majority of the U.S. states and over 35 countries.

He has led projects in all 16 of the firm’s specialized practice areas. Among his many award-winning projects are a series of transformative projects for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the 2030 Comprehensive Master Plan for Hanoi, elementary and secondary schools across the U.S. and in several other countries, new university campuses in India and China, senior living communities in several countries including Japan, and many large mixed use commercial projects around the world. For the last 25 years much of his work has been in Asia.

He is a frequent lecturer at universities and professional organizations and for the last 10 years served on the faculty of Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning. He has published over 100 professional articles in the planning and design press as well as nine textbooks on architectural subjects published by John Wiley & Sons.

He has a Bachelor of Arts (Magna Cum Laude) from Cornell University, a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell and CCNY, and an MBA from Stanford University.

He is son of Lawrence Perkins FAIA, founder of Perkins & Will and the grandson of Dwight Heald Perkins FAIA, founder of Perkins Fellows & Hamilton. Both his father and grandfather led major international practices. The three members of this family are the first grandfather, father, son trio to be made Fellows by the American Institute of Architects.

He and his wife as well as his three daughters and their families live in Scarsdale, New York.
