Daishi Yoshimoto, AIA Bio

A licensed architect both in Japan and the US, Daishi Yoshimoto has developed a unique career in architecture which spans multiple cultures and over 30 years of experience in residential, commercial, and hospitality design. As principal of Yoshimoto Associates, he works to create spaces that enrich its context, enliven peoples' lives, and empower his clients' vision.

​Yoshimoto is a graduate of architecture programs at the University of Florida (BA Arch.) and University of California, Berkeley (M. Arch). His professional career started at Takenaka, one of Japan's top design-builders, where he designed some of the most high-profile projects of the company including the French Embassy redevelopment and Tri-Seven Roppongi. While at Takenaka, he was briefly stationed in Qatar to work on the new Doha International Airport. Yoshimoto later joined UDS, where he led his design team for numerous hospitality projects including the Onsen Ryokan Yuen Shinjuku and Hamacho Hotel. Over the years, his projects have received recognition in major domestic and international design awards. 

A founding member of the Japan Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), he served as President in 2018 and Japan representative to the International Region board from 2020 to 2021. He continues to serve AIA Japan as a board member.
