Attendees:

Location: Pelli Clarke Pelli Office, Tokyo
1, Internet Management Issues (Yonezawa-san)
- FC2 marker that appears during startup is not harmful,
but to be eliminated.
- Michel asked if Website structure to be simplified,
so that information is more easily accessible. However,
Yonezawa-san commented that these changes require Java
modification and may result in additional costs. Instead,
better descriptions of the blank areas on the website
should be filled in during the coming months.
2,General Report (President)
- Report on AIA National Convention in LA by Michel. Next
year to be held in San Antonio, TX. All members encouraged
to attend.
- Upcoming Regional Conference in Hong Kong will include
“Lost in Translation” seminar sponsored by
AIA Japan to be held Oct. 18. Geeta Mehta and Riccardo
Tossani are named potential delegates.
- Decision to join Pacific Northwest Chapter is suspended
until more details/responsibilities are identified. $7
per member per year required if joined. AIA Japan still
represented in DC through International Director (a member
of AIA London). Michel to seek information about interim
membership status.
3, Corporate Affiliates Report (Sakurai-san)
- Michel has about 50 brochures available. Members encouraged
to solicit more affiliate companies.
4, Future Events Planning (President)
- Celebration to be planned for Itsuko Hasegawa, newly
appointed Hon. FAIA: AIA Japan around fall. Event space
to be selected from the various venues discussed. 80 to
100 attendees foreseen. Food and beverage service required.
Geeta Mehta to ask Tokyo American Club if its Cultural
Committee is interested in making this their event. Second
option is Tokyo Kogyo Daigaku Centennial Hall. Board to
decide on location by mid-July.
- Newsletter to be issued this year recording activities
in inaugural year. Michel, Jim Lambiasi, and Daishi Yoshimoto
to begin work. Text to be mostly in English, except its
introductory note, which will also be in Japanese.
5, Member exhibition
- Email calling for submission of member work JPEGs to
be mailed out. Gallery space in website to be used for
member exhibits. JPEGs to be 900 pixels wide. Physical
exhibition to be planned depending on extent of member
interest.
