Attendees:
Michel van Ackere(President), Jun Mitsui(Vice-president),
Daishi Yoshimoto( Secretary), Wac Kuno(Treasurer), Masami
Yonezawa, Charles Uhlmann, Yasuyuki Sakurai, Riccardo Tossani,
Shigeru Yamaki, Takashi Nakano, Kazuya Hagiwara, Toshiyuki
Jinnai. 1, Memberships
- 3 members have declined transfer to AIA Japan. Chapter
has 42 members total, including Assoc. AIAs. Continuing
recruiting efforts encouraged.
2, Treasury
- Chapter receives money from AIA: partial dues of transferred
members.
3, Events
- JIA convention takes place in Gifu, Sept. 9. Former
AIA presidents in attendance. Michel van Ackere to attend.
Travel expenses to be paid by Chapter.
- Three categories of scheduled events proposed by Geeta
Mehta and Riccardo Tossani:
- Big Annual Event, October 2006 at the Yasuda Hall
in Tokyo Univ.
- Discussion held on event format. Informal and
critical discussion amongpractitioners and clients
suggested. Concern expressed about client presence
limiting discussion. Smaller scale event proposed
for early 2006. Call for recommended projects
for discussion.
- Vendor Lectures
- Tokyo Planning Forum/AIA Lectures.
- Frank Lloyd Wright archive in Japan holds event on
Sept. 24 at Myonichikan.
- AIA Japan to support event. Postcards to be sent
out to AIA Japan members.
- Film about FLW work in Japan available for showing,
Japanese and English.
- Chapter requested to offer member email addresses by
World City Forum to distribute
survey.
- World City Forum is a JIA organization intended
to promote UIA convention in Tokyo in 2011.
- AIA Japan will not release member info to third-party.
Will send email first to announce survey. Survey will
be sent to interested members.
4, Website
- Chapter website launched. Design fee to be paid to
designer. Fee to include Japanese version.
- Corporate sponsor banner spaces available. Banner location
in discussion. Opening page may not be appropriate for
advertising. Other Chapter websites to be studied.
- Gallery space open for member work images. Images may
be sent to Mr. Yonezawa.
- “America” to be used versus “Beikoku”
, as official name for AIA in Japanese.
5, Public Relations
- Call for candidate corporate sponsors.
- PR committee to study dues structures and categories
for corporate sponsorships and donations.
