The lecture will focus on the design parameters and the various elements of responsible design in the North Carolina Museum of Art, which is scheduled to achieve LEED Gold Certification. Greg will also describe the relationship of the new gallery building to the existing museum building (designed by Edward Durell Stone) and it’s connection to the 164 acre Art Park in which it is sited. In addition, there will be a description of the LEED registration and documentation process.

Every aspect of the project has been carefully considered with respect to sustainable, responsible design including the site stormwater management systems, the building envelope, daylighting at the galleries, the highly efficient building systems, the building materials, the indoor air quality, and the landscape.
