Dubai: Market & Cityscape

Lectuer: Shigeru Yamaki, AIA Architect, Taisei Corporation

Friday July 18, 7-8.30 PM at
Temple University Japan, Room TBA

The booming city of Dubai is a poster-child of instant urbanization on a scale never before seen in history. It is also a case study of the fast track, fast moving multi-national society in the new paradigm of globalization. Although many developing countries are looking to emulate this model, important issues of environmental sustainability and social equity remain unanswered.

Shigeru Yamaki AIA is an architect with the Design Division of Taisei Corporation who has extensive experience of working in Texas, Los Angeles, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai. In Kuala Lumpur, he was the design coordinator for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. He has recently contributed to the start-up of the design management operation and various projects in Dubai .
